The Best Pizza Dough Recipe

This is the simplest and the most outstanding recipe for pizza dough. You will need nothing more than 6 ingredients a bowl (I have also provided information on using all-purpose or bread flour if you do not have one), three seconds of kneading, and thirty minutes to ferment this pizza crust.

The Best Pizza Dough Recipe

I’m getting into sharing this recipe with you today and it’s kind of funny. It’s pizza dough, which is not exactly what you would expect to be exciting and interesting plus it was actually very dull to photograph (how on earth do you make dough look all playful and appealing in pictures, could you please give me a hint?).

However, as a person who at Baking has been the most simple of recipes of all time with yeast and the time I was the most successful, I can really tell you that learning it was like a jubilee for me. Then, you can be sure that there’s nothing to be afraid of! Yeast baking is not that difficult or scary and you too can create your own simple pizza crust at home in a few minutes, and all without any special ingredients.

I wanted this recipe to be as simple and barren of technical jargon as possible. It’s made out of all-purpose flour (and tips on how to change the flour if you want to be a culinary expert), you will not need a stand mixer, and it calls for the least possible amount of kneading.

Following are some of the most common questions about diy pizza I asked you back in the post. Are you ready?!

What is the best flour for making homemade pizza dough?

Bread flour sometimes is thought to be the king of all-purpose flours for making pizza by some seasoned cookers, in disagreement with that, I prefer it that way if personally given a choice. In my own case, though, I barely bought any flour that would be as typical as all-purpose when I didn’t have to working with this recipe so my first and main goal was to make it work with regular old all-purpose flour.

I made it my business to try out this recipe (quite a lot of pizzas were eaten last week, for sure) with bread flour, and it comes out very well if you also make it that way. I would say that the main difference is that bread flour biscuit has a more crisp texture while the all-purpose flour biscuit has a more tender one.

Can I flavor my Pizza Dough?

While the pizza dough in itself is a must-have and is significant as a plain ground to build your favorite pizza, it is very tasteless. It is true. A piece which is made up of flour and water and practically has no flavor is not exactly a gourmet’s dream, the topping will bring you the flavor, thus you should concentrate on it.

Most of the time I like to change the usual taste of the crust just by putting in garlic powder (usually around a ¼ teaspoon) and at times crushed basil leaves (crushed oregano may also be your option but I just can’t stand oregano) into the dough mix before the oil and water are spilled in.

How do you stretch out pizza dough?

You can use your hands or a rolling pin for this. If you’re really good with your hands, then you can probably make a pizza rise up into the air and twirl it like an Italian pizza master, but I surely can’t be more of a help to you on that one.

I’d rather employ a rolling pin and spread the dough out into a circle (or possibly a more amoeba-like shape, given my incompetence at rolling a perfect circle). An alternative approach is to use your hands and spread the dough thinly until it reaches the required length.

After that simply use your hands to squeeze the edges and create a crust or bend them (I always bend mine because I love thick crust), rub the entire surface of the pizza with olive oil generously, and at the end, use a fork to put holes through the middle of the dough so that no bubbles are formed while the dough is baking.

How do you make Homemade Pizza?

You could use this pizza dough recipe so that you can make your own homemade pizza using any toppings that you want (I am a big fan of making Margherita pizza and even can be a BBQ chicken one by using my BBQ pulled chicken recipe).

I gave directions in the recipe too, but after you make your pizza dough just top it with your favorite toppings and put it in a 425F oven for about 15 minutes (it might take you longer if you have a lot of toppings). Please do not forget to ensure your oven has been properly preheated and make use of an oven thermometer if possible, as, in my case, my oven takes a while to get to that temperature and usually tells me that it is ready although it is not even close.
